The 5th Rencontres Patrimoines et innovations organized by IESA X {CORRESPONDANCES DIGITALES] took place on Thursday April 21, 2022 at the Hôtel de Sully. The theme was reconquering the public in the heritage sector after two years of health crisis. Over 400 people took part in the event, either physically or remotely. In this article, you’ll find the video transmissions of each of the Rencontres, the presentations that were shared, and the graphic renderings.
During the day, 12 speakers shared their views on the theme of (re)conquering audiences. They highlighted the challenges of inclusive, societal and social innovation facing heritage institutions. These challenges are all the more pressing given the current health crisis.

MEETING 1 – YOUNG ADULTS / MUSEUMS.
What are the levers and challenges for attracting young adults to the museum? Communication, programming, dedicated spaces and facilities.

- Creating an attractive program of events: the example of the Musée d’Orsay’s Curieuses nocturnes – Arthur Binois, Head of Cultural Programming, Musée d’Orsay.
- Creating dedicated mediation offerings for young adults: feedback from Fondation Louis Vuitton – Julie Dessay-Gravier, Head of Cultural Mediation, Fondation Louis Vuitton.
- Developing dedicated communications on the Web and social networks: strategy and challenges for the Château de Versailles in relation to young audiences – Paul Chaine, Head of Digital Development, Château de Versailles.
- Encouraging young audiences to visit cultural venues through attractive means: the example of Pass Culture – Juliette Marchandise-Franquet, Ile-de-France Territorial Development Manager, Pass Culture.

MEETING 2 – PUBLIC ACCESSIBILITY.
How can we make museums more accessible and inclusive? Development strategies, accessibility of spaces and facilities, co-design approaches.
With contributions from :
- Designing accessible museography in a museum undergoing renovation: the example of the Musée National de la Marine – Lucie Aerts, Head of Mediation, Musée national de la Marine.
- Contributing to the day-to-day accessibility of a museum: feedback from the Quai Branly – Clémence Gros, in charge of developing disabled visitors, off-site partnerships and young visitors, Musée du Quai Branly.
- Developing the accessibility of a cultural venue by coordinating a network of partners: the example of the relais accompagnateurs at the Musée du Louvre – Matthieu Decraene, Deputy Director of Audience Development and Artistic and Cultural Education, Musée du Louvre.

MEETING 3 – THIRD PLACES AND NEW AUDIENCES.
What are the promises and challenges of implementing a third-party venue approach in a heritage site? Issues and dynamics, feedback and perspectives.
- Helping privately-owned heritage sites to develop multi-activity or even third-party facilities: some illustrations from Hephata – Séverin des Mazery, Director, Hephata.
- Learn from your experience of cultural third places: engineering, training and support for territories through the Campus des tiers lieux – Marie Floquet, Director of Strategy & Impact, Sinny&Ooko.
- From the experience of a cultural venue to supporting the development of third-party venues: the experience of CENTQUATRE and its cultural engineering activity – Martin Colomer-Diez, Director of Cultural Engineering, Coordinator of Artistic Direction for the Grand Paris Express, CENTQUATRE.
- Hybridizing activities at a heritage site: the example of Villers-Cotterêts – Valérie Senghor, Deputy Director, Centre des monuments nationaux.
- Revitalizing difficult neighborhoods, new districts and eco-neighborhoods: third places as a tool for urban policy – Corinne Langlois, Assistant Director for Architecture, Building Quality and the Urban Environment, French Ministry of Culture.
