1. AMONG THE PROJECTS YOU HAVE RECENTLY CARRIED OUT, HAVE YOU CARRIED OUT ANY PROJECTS WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS (IN GESTATION, IN THE PROCESS OF BEING SET UP OR ALREADY DEVELOPED)?
For QDSinternational, the latest edition of NUMIX LAB is the continuation of a project we initiated with the city of Metz and the city of Brussels [NRLD: Festival international des arts numériques Constellations de Metz]. It’s a co-production that we presented in Metz with the city of Metz and the city of Brussels, via Brussels Major Events.

The third edition of NUMIX LAB in November 2022 has enabled us to maintain and continue our links with these partners, as well as with new ones from Luxembourg. As a result, we’ve had good discussions with Luxembourg and, more specifically, Luxembourg City, with whom we’d like to work to develop installations. Being part of the delegation has enabled us to discover different cultural venues and their representatives, and to imagine what we could do together. It’s still preliminary, the projects aren’t clear-cut, but we’re in a very positive exploratory phase.
Being part of the Xn Québec delegation also enabled us to discover the European capital of culture, Esch-sur-Alzette, in the south of the country. In concrete terms, we were able to establish initial contact with the municipal team and the professionals in charge of cultural development. An invaluable asset in determining how to work with them in our capacity as a cultural district. This edition also enabled me to discover new spaces, cultural venues and their managers.

2. CAN YOU DESCRIBE THEM IN BROAD TERMS (TARGET AUDIENCE, PLANNED PROJECTS, MODEL OF COLLABORATION WITH YOUR PARTNERS)?
We address the general public and people who frequent public spaces. With the city of Luxembourg, for example, we have been discussing the various ways in which we could deploy Quartier des spectacles installations in Luxembourg public spaces for its residents and tourists. We’re starting to think about this with them, in principle through collaborations in the form of work rentals.
With the town of Esch-sur-Alzette, discovering best practices and learning about networking links between cultural districts has been very rewarding.
3. TO WHAT EXTENT HAVE THESE PROJECTS BEEN FACILITATED OR ENCOURAGED BY XN QUEBEC’S INITIATIVES?
Indeed, I think that NUMIX LAB and Xn Québec take us to places that are unusual in terms of market development. This allows us to identify new opportunities that we might not have seen at first glance. As a manager of public space, it allows me to develop a deeper understanding and draw inspiration from other relevant models.
What’s more, these are territories where we had no visibility before. It was particularly interesting to make contact with areas previously unfamiliar to the Quartier des spectacles. We wouldn’t have gone to Luxembourg or Esch-sur-Alzette if it hadn’t been for NUMIX LAB and the Xn Québec delegation.

4. DURING THE LAST EDITION OF NUMIX LAB, HOW MANY CONTRACTS DID YOU SIGN OR NEGOTIATE AND, IF APPLICABLE, CAN YOU SHARE A RANGE OF YOUR REALIZED AND/OR ANTICIPATED GROSS REVENUES OUTSIDE QUEBEC?
The last edition is still quite close, and we don’t yet have a clear revenue forecast on the subject.
