This debrief is for all those who were lucky enough to take part, or who were unable to attend this year’s event.
After three editions in Europe and Canada, which contributed to federating a solid ecosystem around immersion and fostering the development of numerous international co-productions, over 200 professionals gathered from December 4 to 8, 2023 for the 4th edition of NUMIX LAB.
5 days of meetings, visits and exchanges between 3 cities (Brussels, Rotterdam and Amsterdam), discovering more than 8 sites and more than 9 networking events (i.e. 430 organized business meetings).
219 participants from a dozen countries attended. 37% of participants came from the immersive creation sector, 34% from cultural venues and 29% from funding bodies, institutions and solution providers.
The meetings provided an opportunity to discuss how the hybridity of uses (of a venue, of audiences or of creation) engages cultural immersion in a phase of economic maturity. Faced with these changes :
- How do venues organize themselves to accommodate a wide range of hybrid programming?
- How can we produce immersive experiences that are easier to use and distribute?
- Lastly, how can we create a global experience at the crossroads of digital technology and in synergy with an artistic and cultural approach?
During this debrief, we’ll be presenting some of the feedback from this 4th edition, which will shed light on some of this year’s key trends.

PRESENTATION OF THE NUMIX LAB
NUMIX LAB is an annual international event designed to accelerate networking and promote cooperation, co-productions and the circulation of digital works and expertise within the French-speaking world (Belgium, Switzerland, France, Maghreb, Canada, etc.). It is co-produced by Xn Québec and {CORRESPONDANCES DIGITALES].
NUMIX LAB is a hybrid community that fosters cross-fertilization between public and private players. With this event, our aim is to federate a community around digital creativity in order to facilitate collaborations between the cultural, audiovisual and technological sectors. It’s a way of initiating meetings and collaborations between three types of players:
- Creative professionals (studios, artists and audiovisual producers);
- Cultural venues (museums, art centers, public venues);
- Public and private financial partners (foundations, national and regional funds).
NUMIX LAB is a state of the art at the crossroads of a multiplicity of digital expressions. These professionals bring together all new forms of writing and all formats of digital work: mapping, digital arts, online visits, mixed realities, augmented realities, virtual realities, sound immersions…
After 3 successful editions between France, Germany, Luxembourg and Canada, the 4th edition will be at the heart of Europe.
This fourth edition, co-produced by Xn QuĂ©bec and {CORRESPONDANCES DIGITALES]in partnership with Brussels Major Events (BME), and with the support of the French Ministry of Culture, the Centre national du cinĂ©ma et de l’image animĂ©e (CNC), the European Union – Unframed Collection project, the City of Montreal, the governments of Quebec and Canada, the Canada Media Fund, the DĂ©lĂ©gation gĂ©nĂ©rale du QuĂ©bec Ă Bruxelles, the French Embassy in Belgium and crĂ©ative NL.
